Two parties, and two different thoughts on education and institutions enabling education post high school. While Harris has been a strong contender for forgiving billions in education loans and student debts, Trump is all for an online American education system offering credits and the ability to study from home. However, the effects of who wins the elections will not only be these. Find out more below.

Private School Choice

Some major changes will be seen in the differing levels of funding available for different private schools. The Trump administration might be inclined to provide funding for religious schools, and private charter schools. It will also likely include overturning Biden-era restrictions on federal funding given to off-shoots of private schools. Public schooling, dependent on federal funding, might be severely undermined if the Trump-administration decides to take steps in favor of privatized education.

Affordable Colleges

If the Trump-administration comes into power, the funding for private schools might be there, but it will also come with heavy taxation to fund his own online credit-based school, which would offer online courses to students. However, this defeats the purpose of the already established community colleges. Instead, the likely scenario for the Harris-administration is that students will also be given aid to manage and reduce their debt.

Education Technology

AI has definitely been the most attractive tech option for education institutions to take over and find use cases for. However, the two administrations have different ways of handling the integration of technology. By tackling possible problems like AI prejudice, privacy concerns, broadband availability for low-income children and their families, and civil rights in educational settings, the Harris administration can adopt a more all-encompassing stance. The Executive Order on AI and other relevant policies would probably be revoked by a Trump administration, eliminating protections against inadvertent bias, discrimination, and other possible negative effects of AI and developing technologies in education.

Apprenticeship

Employees need training that is accessible, inexpensive, and leads to a decent job. Companies require skilled laborers and frequently desire control over the means and locations of that training. At its best, apprenticeship provides a win-win solution for meeting those demands while dividing the related risks and expenses between companies and employees. The parties diverge in their opinions about who gets to strike the balance of power inside the system.

Unusually, the two front-runners from the major parties are people who have political experience before-hand, so they have a history of influencing national policy. Aside from the White House and Congress, other organizations with a track record of influencing agendas can also provide insights into the implications of various arrangements for workers, educators, and students. The next four years of education, hence, completely depend on what choice we make in November.
